Have you been seeing a little blue star on the swiping screen or on someone’s profile on Tinder?
It may be a little star but it is actually quite special. This star represents the Super Like function on Tinder, which is set up from your regular like.
Still don’t fully understand what this means?
No worries! In this post, I’ll be discussing the following:
What is the blue star on Tinder? How does the blue star affect your matches on Tinder? How can users effectively use this feature?
Without wasting any more time, let’s get right into it!

Blue Star On The Swiping Screen
If you see a blue star on the swiping screen, you should know that this little star is an indication of the Super Like function.
Keep in mind that the Super Like is not like a normal-like. These are special likes that you can use to show someone that you’re really interested in them.
Free users on Tinder get one Super Like per day. So, I suggest you use them wisely. Don’t just use it on any profile, save it for that one special profile that really captures your interest.
On the other hand, if you’re a Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold, or Tinder Platinum user, you get five free Super Likes per day. As a premium user, you have more choices and can send Super Likes to multiple people if you wish.
Normally, to match you swipe right and you swipe left to unmatch. If you want to Super Like, all you need to do is swipe up and it’s as simple as that!
Blue Star Around A Profile
Now an important thing to keep in mind is that there’s a difference between seeing a blue star on the swiping screen and seeing another user’s profile with a blue box and blue star.
The former, as I explained earlier, allows YOU to Super Like a profile. The latter, on the other hand, means that someone else has Super Liked you.
Yup, you read that right. If Tinder shows you a blue star around another user’s profile, it means that something in your profile made them want to use their special Super Like to get your attention.
What Is A ‘Super Like’?
I’ve been talking about Super Likes for quite a while, haven’t I? Let me explain a bit in detail what exactly is Tinder’s Super Like feature.
It’s been around since 2015 and essentially, this feature allows you to convey to a potential match that you’re really interested in them before they have a chance to swipe on your profile.
Normally, you can only find out if a match is interested in you once both of you swipe right. However, with the introduction of the Super Like, the user you’re interested in knows beforehand that they’ve caught your attention.
How Does Super Like Work?
According to Tinder, the chances of matching with someone increase by three times if you Super Like their profile.
Other than letting the other users know that you’re interested, this feature makes your profile stand out more from other users.
Firstly, your potential match receives a notification that you’ve Super Liked their profile. Second, when they open the app and start scrolling, they’ll see you with a blue box and star on your profile.
Does it really work?
Well, the opinion on Super Likes is a bit divided. Two different opinions surround this feature.
Some users just see Super Like as a sign that someone is actually interested in them. It’s even flattering to some users.
On the other hand, some users think that Super Likes are a bit creepy. They even go as far as to think that it may be a bit desperate.
Honestly, I’d say if you really see a profile you like, you should give it a shot.
At the very least, this feature brings your profile to the other user’s attention as your profile is moved to the first few matches on the user’s stack.
You just need to be careful of how you use your Super Likes, which brings me to the next section of this post.
How To Use Super Like
Now comes the important question: when should you use your Super Like?
You shouldn’t just use up your Super Like on just any profile. If you use Super Likes on too many profiles or multiple times on the same profile, you might make the other users feel uncomfortable.
I also don’t recommend using the Super Like feature on the “most attractive” profile either. If it’s an attractive-looking woman, she probably already has a few Super Likes.
Try using your Super Likes more wisely. Use them on profiles where you actually feel a connection with the person. Or someone who is more your type and you have a chance of matching up with.

How To Undo A Super Like
Accidentally Super Liked a profile by swiping up?
Maybe you were multi-tasking or maybe you were lazy swiping and your fingers accidentally swiped up.
Whatever the case may be, you’ve now accidentally Super Liked a profile and need to undo it immediately.
Don’t panic! There are two possible ways you can undo your Super Like.
If you’ve subscribed to Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold, you’re in luck, being a premium member really pays off in situations like this. You can simply tap the yellow rewind button to undo your action.
Alternatively, if you’ve accidentally matched while sending a Super Like, there’s a little hack you can try.
Go to the message screen and tap the red flag or unmatch. It’s as simple as that.
If either of the scenarios doesn’t apply to you, then you’ve lucked out, my friend. Look at the bright side, maybe this accidental Super Like might lead you to the love of your life.
How To Get Super Likes
Has all this talk about Super Likes gotten your interest? Do you want to get Super Likes?
As I mentioned earlier, free users get one Super Like per day. On the other hand, if you’re a premium user–Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold–, you get five Super Likes per day.
If you wish to purchase more, Tinder allows you to purchase them separately as well. The quantity and pricing may vary depending on your age and location.
Premium accounts can really improve your online dating experience on Tinder, and most other dating apps for that matter. It gives you access to quite a few features that free users don’t have.
If you can afford it, a premium subscription is worth a shot for a better dating experience.
Final Thoughts
I’ve talked about the little blue stars and Super Likes in quite some detail, so by now, you should have a good idea of how they work.
If you want to get Super Likes on your profile, I suggest giving your profile a little makeover. Maybe try using a profile picture in which you’re smiling or one in which you look more confident.
Give your bio another read-through. Is it good enough to catch someone’s interest? Maybe try having a humorous bio to grab the attention of other users.
Once you’ve perfected your profile, you’re sure to get a Super Like!
