As eharmony has been around since the year 2000, essentially pre-history in internet terms, it’s fair to ask whether the site is still a good place to look for a partner.
In the over-saturated online dating world of today, there are so many apps and dating sites that it’s hard to keep track of them, and though some stick around for years and become the gold standard for certain types of dating, others fall as swiftly as they rose.
But with its solid foundations in psychology (eharmony was founded by Dr. Neil Clark Warren, a clinical psychologist) and excellent reputation for making matches, eharmony has largely survived the seismic shifts in online dating over the last 20 years, maintaining a healthy number of active users.
The simple answer to whether or not people are still using eharmony in 2023 is of course! eharmony is still one of the most popular dating sites in the world, and that isn’t changing any time soon. In fact, eharmony has one of the largest user bases of any dating site.
Back in 2017, eharmony made some changes and modernized the site to entice younger users to begin signing up again as they feared losses to the likes of Tinder.
The result was a clean, modern, and user-friendly dating experience with a laser focus on serious relationships which means it stands out from the crowd.
If you don’t need any more convincing and just want to try it out yourself, you can get started for free here.
The site is regularly voted the most trusted dating app in the US, as well as the app with the best dating pool. The new, updated eharmony is, essentially, more about quality than quantity! That being said, 66 million worldwide members to choose from isn’t exactly shoddy.
Although eharmony may not have as many active members as some dating apps, it does have the highest marriage rate and the lowest rate of breakups when compared to other sites.
If you’re looking for a serious relationship then eharmony is probably the best site for your purposes, especially if you’re thinking about getting married eventually.

Maybe you’re thinking about making the jump from the more casual apps to eharmony (if so, sorry if I scared you with the marriage stuff, please take things at your own pace…) or you’ve used eharmony in the past and after finding yourself single again you’re wondering if it’s still the site for you, I’ve got your back.

Who Uses Eharmony?
Different dating sites and apps have different demographics. Sometimes they were designed specifically to cater to a certain crowd and other times it just sorts of works out like that.
Most apps tend to skew younger, with traditional website-based online dating attracting a slightly more mature crowd. Of course, as millennials reach their 40s (seriously, what is time) things are beginning to change, but those trends are largely holding true for now.
Efforts to reach out to a younger crowd have paid off for eharmony though, with a lot of new users in the 25-34 age range. eharmony’s psychological matchmaking technology is second to none, which makes it interesting for people of all ages and a really useful tool if you’re looking for long-term love.
eharmony also has a lot of users, both male and female, in the 35-44 age range. This is a demographic that tends to be looking to settle down, and as a lot of people pair off in their 30s there aren’t too many dating sites with a strong contingent of 35-44-year-olds. In fact, eharmony might be your best bet if that’s your age range!
The one age range barely represented on eharmony is 18-25. This makes a lot of sense, though. I mean how many 18-year-olds do you know who are looking to settle down? And how many 18-year-olds do you know who would fill out a psychological matching quiz in order to find dates? Yeah, I can’t think of any either.
There are certainly users over 50 on eharmony, as well as seniors over 60. The site’s system of matching works well for people who are used to something a bit more traditional, but if you’re older and want to skip the hassle of a dating pool full of youngsters then there’s also the option of a site designed solely for older users.

Many dating sites have a much larger male-than-female user base, but eharmony is actually pretty equally balanced with 47% women to 53% men.
As you would expect from a site with such an in-depth set of quizzes and a psychological basis for its matching technology, most eharmony users tend to be looking for a serious relationship. But more on that below!
Is Eharmony For Hookups Or Serious Dating?
I can’t normally answer questions like this so categorically, but eharmony really is for people who are looking for love. The site has long been focused on serious dating, and that hasn’t changed in recent years.
In fact, eharmony has doubled down on being serious because that’s the niche it fills.
The site has no desire to compete with Tinder and the other apps that have sprung from that same well.
The great thing about eharmony is that you can be pretty sure that everyone you talk to on the platform is looking for love, so you’re unlikely to be ghosted, messed about, or any of the other nightmare dating scenarios we’re now all way too used to.
One of the issues people sometimes have with eharmony is that it’s on the expensive side, but the site is designed with the idea that you won’t have to be on it for long!
In fact, most successful eharmony users meet their spouses within a year on the site.
If you want a more in-depth breakdown of eharmony pricing and why it’s probably worth the price tag, then I have an article for you.
The basic conclusion, though, is that eharmony is the best way to avoid having to interact with a whole bunch of matches that aren’t looking for what you’re looking for.
